1..1 BCS-2 Express for Sony

1.1 Installation Requirements

ImageWare is a partner and service provider for companies, government agencies, and institutions in the education and research sectors. We do not operate in the consumer market. Therefore, we assume that the PC used for our BCS-2 software is exclusively for business use. Furthermore, it is expected that the PC contains no private or personal user data apart from a user account. If personal/private data is present on the PC, technical and organizational measures must be taken to ensure that this data is not stored on drives relevant to us.
If the PC is not a professional/business PC, we unfortunately have to decline any support or training and ask you to replicate the support case on a PC used exclusively for business purposes.

1.1.1 Minimum Hardware Requirements

• Windows 64-bit with multi-core processor > 2.2 GHz
• Hard drive with 20 GB of free storage
• 4 GB RAM
• 17-inch monitor

1.1.2 Recommended Hardware Requirements

• Windows 64-bit with multi-core processor > 3 GHz
• Hard drive with 50 GB of free storage
• 8 GB RAM
• 22-inch monitor

1.1.3 Software Requirements

• Windows 11
• Installation and configuration rights (administrator privileges)
• Read/write access in BCS-2 program, data, and job directories for other user accounts on the computer

We require installation on a locally available user profile. Alternative installations such as server profiles or virtual machines are not officially supported and must be done at the customer’s own risk. BCS-2 does not support multi-user access and should therefore only be run by one logged-in user at a time—especially to ensure proper scanner connection.

1.1.4 Requirements for Sony

• libusbK-3.1.0.0-setup
  ⚠️ Follow the Sony driver installation instructions precisely (RemoteSampleApp_IM_v1.13.00.pdf – Sony Corporation – Installation of libusbK)
• USB 2.0 Micro USB cable
• Power supply for the camera
• If using a camera stand, we recommend replacing the camera’s battery with a power adapter for continuous operation

1.2 Installing BCS-2 Express

1. Install using bcs2_V6_express_setup. Start the setup and follow the instructions.
2. If you want to install the configuration directory of BCS-2 Express on a drive other than C:, select “Expert Mode”.
3. After installation, you will have two new icons on your desktop:
   • BCS-2 Express Configurator – to customize the application
   • BCS-2 Express – the scanning program
4. The Configurator will launch automatically after setup, unless you deselected the corresponding checkbox.

Upon first launch of the Configurator, a message will appear stating that the license is invalid. Confirm the message and go to the Licensing tab in the menu bar. Start the registration process by selecting Perform Online Registration… and have your BCS-2 license certificate ready.

1.3 Software Registration and Licensing

1.3.1 Online Registration

Step 1: General Information and Internet Access Check
Read the registration instructions. After an automatic check, it will show whether online or email registration is possible. To enter your data, click Next or choose Enter Data and Register from the menu.

Step 2: Enter Data and Register
Fill out the displayed form. License number and registration code are on your certificate. The system ID is automatically generated by BCS-2. Acknowledge and confirm GDPR and data protection notices.

Click Perform Online Registration. After validation, confirm with Yes to complete registration.

If the license file download is successful, it will be activated automatically.

Click OK to finish and begin customizing BCS-2 Express.

1.3.2 Manual License Request

If online registration fails, use the Prepare for Email or Prepare for Printing/Faxing button after entering your data. Send the request to licence@imageware.de. You’ll receive your license file via email.

1.3.2.1 Importing and Activating the License File

Start the BCS-2 Express Configurator and select Import License. Navigate to where you saved the license file and open it. The license will be validated and applied automatically. Restart the application.
