Abschnitt hinzufügen

If you double-click the downloaded file, the operating system will launch a security prompt. Only then, the actual installation will start.

2.4.1 Security prompts

If necessary, your computer may be monitored by other software (antivirus suites, Microsoft SmartScreen). It collects information about installation programmes and may indicate a risk.

These assessments, however, are based on download and installation frequencies with the result that no warning will appear for widely spread programmmes (Adobe Acrobat Reader, Mozilla Firefox, etc.), while a warning may appear for less frequent programmes. Downloads with a signature provided by your partner library do never pose a risk.

2.4.2 Installation from the Internet Browser after the Download

If  you did not switched off this functionality in Windows 10, the Windows SmartScreen will appear when you install MyBib eL from the Internet browser by double-clicking the download file.

You will see the following message:

Please click More Information to get the following options:

The digital signature shows ImageWare Components GmbH Informations- und Archivsysteme as publisher.

Select the Run anyway to run the installation.

2.4.3 Installation from a Directory

The installation is preceded by an automatical security prompt. It allows  installations only from trustworthy sources.

The authenticity of the MyBib eL Viewer is provided by the verified publisher ImageWare Components GmbH Informations- und Archivsysteme.

This information is displayed if you right-click the downloaded file MyBib-eL_Viewer_windows-x64_3_x.exe and select Properties in the tab Digital Signatures.

2.6 Configuration – Start via Document Link – Important in the OCLC WorldShare Context
Abschnitt hinzufügen

2.6.1 Configuration for one reading room

You can find a tutorial for this under MyBib eL Specials

In addition to the normal launch, the reading room can also be started by activating a document link. This is particularly relevant in the WorldShare context, where the viewer is almost exclusively started via such document links.

Conventional reading room viewers can also be started by document links. The link contains the information on the document and about the server, so that the document is always opended in the corresponding reading room.

You should only activate the document links when your using one MyBib eL viewer . If you receive documents from several different libraries and have more than one viewer, you will always have to manually link the documents to the correct reading room.

To use  document links with the already installed viewer, please proceed as follows:

When clicking on a document link for the first time, its file type (extension „.mel“) is still unknown on your PC. The computer will ask you how to proceed with this file.

You get the following picture:

In the dialogue select the installed MyBib eL Viewer under Open with.

Please activate the checkbox  Always use this app to open .mel files. So this  selection has to be made only once.

If the Imageware Viewer does not appear in the list of offered apps, please select More apps and then Look for another app on the PC.

The following dialogue will appear:

Navigate to the installation directory of the viewer (by default under C:\Programs\ImageWareComponents\MyBib-el_Viewer).

Select the file MyBibeLViewer.exe. with a mouse click.

The name will then appear in the dialogue.

Select Open with the left mousebutton.

The viewer will now start:

2.6.2 Configuration for several reading rooms

In addition to the normal launch, the reading room can also be started by activating a document link.

If you have more than one MyBib eL viewer, because you receive documents from different libraries, the activation of the document link has to be done manually.

When clicking on a document link for the first time, its file type (extension „.mel“) is still unknown on your PC. The computer will ask you how to proceed with this file.

You get the following picture:

In the dialogue select the installed MyBib eL Viewer under Open with.

DO NOT activate the checkbox  Always use this app to open .mel files.
