7. Menu Job

Some of the options and functions provided in the Job Menu are only active via the start screen; others only within a Job. The unavailable options are greyed out.

7.1 Options in the Start Interface

Import job from a job file: Via the appearing dialog for loading files you can select and open a previously saved BCS-2 file (see File menu). The images and metadata stored in the file are then loaded and processed or edited further.

 

Create new job from eL export container: Via the navigation dialog an existing MyBib eL job, which is available as a ZIP container, can be imported. The images, the existing OCR files as well as the structure and index data from the metadata XML are imported.


By reading out the index data, the indices for the eL workflow can be created automatically. 


Create new job: A new empty job is created for the active workflow.

 

 New job: A new job is created, the job/user interface for processing is opened.

 

Create Jobs by Import …:  Opens the dialog Create Jobs by Import dialog in which the batch import is configured. Details to the function can be found below.

 

Create Jobs by MyBib eDoc Orders …: (prerequisite MyBib Connector) Opens the dialog Create Jobs by selecting MyBib eDoc orders. This robot function is explained in a separate chapter.   

 

Transfer job: The job is transferred according to the default settings in the workflow.

 

Delete Job: The selected job is deleted.

 

7.2 Options in the Job Mode

Following functions can be selected within a job (in the job mode):

 New job: A new job is created, the job/user interface for processing is opened.

 

Finish and open previous: The current job is closed and the previous job in the job list is opened.

 

Finish and open next: The current job is closed and the next job in the job list is opened.

 

Close Job: The currently opened job is closed, the job mode is exited and the start screen with the job list is called up.

 

Transfer Job…: The job is transferred according to the default settings in the workflow

 

Apply an operation on the job Nearly all image operations can also be carried out in a  batch. Over the upper dropdown list the function can be selected. Over the second dropdown list it is possible to decide for which images in the job the function is carried out.


Following batch-operations are currently available via the upper dropdown list in the  dialog:

  • Apply Masking (first tile is used): The images are cropped according to the mask / area setting.
    Masking always refers only to a single mask (with or without gutter / division line) or one area!
  • Apply Multi-Masking (all tiles are used): The selected areas of the images are cropped.
  • Apply Splitting: Perform page splitting for all images with split line
  • Perform OCR in tiles: OCR is performed in the tiles/areas on the image, based on the OCR settings  of the job. The result of the OCR can be viewed and editied via the properties dialog of the respective tile.
  • Perform OCR for all pages:  OCR is performed for the complete pages, based on the OCR settings  of the job
  • Perform OCR for all pages, create the MyBib eL Format: OCR is performed for the complete pages, based on the OCR settings  of the job, the XML- format for the MyBib eL (IWC-OCR) is created
  • Perform OCR for all pages, create the MyBib eL Format, create the OCR text sa well: OCR is performed for the complete pages, based on the OCR settings  of the job, the XML- format for the MyBib eL (IWC-OCR) is created as well as a normal OCR text
  • Detect Barcodes in tiles: Prerequisite Barcode Suite
  • Binarize Images using each Image´s threshold: Colour or grayscale images are converted to 1 bit black/white scans, whereby the respective stored binarization threshold value (default value 128) is used.
  • Rotate Images by 90°, 180 °, 270° : The images are rotated by 90 °, 180 ° or 270 °.
  • Invert Images: The image colours are reversed.
  • Grayscale Images: The colour image is displayed as a grayscale image, the conversion of the image into an 8-bit grayscale image takes place only when the image is saved.
  • Remove black borders from Images: Black boarders around the images are whitened
  • Despeckle Images: Small spots (speckles) on the images are automatically removed.
  • Deskew Images: Skew of the images is automatically corrected. 
  • Clean background of images:
  • Mirror Images vertically/vertically : The images are mirrored vertically / horizontally
  • Scale Images to 100/200/300/400 DPI: The DPI  of the images is changed
  • set DPI of Image to DPI of current Job-Page:  The DPI value calculated via the area/tile function Rulers and Calibration is set as the new value for all other images. The DPI of the images is corrected/adjusted accordingly.
  • set Threshold of Images to Threshold of current Job Page: The threshold to binarize the image of the currently select images is set for all other images, the default setting (128) is overwritten.
  • Apply Script: A combination of post processing steps can be defined in the general settings for each workflow (e.g deskew, despeckle, split). The processing steps are carried out according to the sequence they were defined.

The batch operation can be applied to

  • all images of the job
  • all selected images of the job
  • all images after the current image
  • all images before the current image
  • all images with odd numbers (left)
  • all images with even numbers (right)

7.3 Setting areas and split lines for the job

Opens the dialog for accepting areas and split lines.

The upper drop-down menu is used to select what is to be transferred:

  • everything (areas and split lines)
  • all divisions
  • only the first area
  • all split lines

The dropdown menu below is used to select for which images/pages in the job the selection should be taken over:

  • all pages of the job
  • all marked pages of the job
  • all pages after the current
  • all pages with odd numbers (left)
  • all pages with even numbers (right)
